GABRIELLA DEL VALLE is a silver jewellery designer and maker with a dedication to sustainable craftsmanship. Her practice began with a single evening class: ten years later, she runs the independent studio Elemental Jewellery Design, based in Willingham in South Cambridgeshire.

The former Chair of Cambridge Open Studios – having headed the organisation for four years – Gabriella remains at the beating heart of the operation, providing invaluable support to both the Management Team and the wider artistic community. She balances this alongside her teaching work, helping to cultivate the next generation of designers and makers!

Gabriella exhibits annually at the July Open Studios, as well as at craft fairs around the UK. ‘I started making silver jewellery as I couldn’t find designs that inspired me’, she observes. Her pieces tell the story of their creation: inspired by organic forms and ‘the natural elegance of silver’, they are tactile, evocative and brilliantly unique. Gabriella describes how new shapes and patterns frequently emerge out of serendipity (and an experimental zeal!) as she repurposes offcuts and leftovers from previous projects, letting the medium take the creative lead. ​
